My Story

Hi, I’m Amelia, the maker behind CuratedSoftly. My first real project was a lopsided little clay dish I made on my kitchen table, mostly out of boredom on a slow weekend. It cracked right down the middle two days later. I remember being genuinely annoyed, and then genuinely curious. Why did it crack? Was it too thick? Did I dry it too fast? That question sent me down a rabbit hole I never really climbed back out of.

What started as curiosity about air dry clay turned into a real obsession with understanding the small mechanics behind handmade projects. Why some pieces crack and others don’t. Why one sealer dries glossy and another dries cloudy. Why my first candle sank in the middle and my tenth one finally didn’t. I started keeping notes, testing variables one at a time, and slowly building the kind of hands-on knowledge you only get from ruining a few batches first.

These days I spend most of my time elbow deep in clay, wax, or soap batter, working through the details that separate a project that looks intentional from one that looks accidental. I still keep every failed piece for a while before I throw it out, partly out of stubbornness and partly because I usually learn more from the ones that went wrong than the ones that went right.

To make handmade crafting feel approachable rather than intimidating, one clear, tested tutorial at a time. I want someone who has never touched clay or poured a candle to read a post here and think, okay, I could actually try that.

I believe:
